Join Globe Trekker travellers Jonathan Atherton and Megan McCormick explore this multi cultural, multi-faceted and wonderfully historical city.
Globe Trekker Megan McCormick spends a week in Southern California, exploring one of the world's most exciting and glamorous cities: Los Angeles. Her visit begins in Hollywood with a trip to the Central Casting agency and a tour behind the scenes at Paramount Studios. After learning some tricks from the paparazzi in Beverly Hills, she explores the history of the newly revitalized Downtown LA and visits the less traveled neighborhoods of South Central and East LA. Finally, Megan's visit takes her to the coast for a work out with the musclemen of Venice Beach, an exploration of the oilfields of Signal Hill and the relative peace and quiet of Catalina Island.
Traveller Megan McCormick begins her journey in Hong Kong, looking out at the incredible skyline from Victoria Peak. She then takes in the contrasts of the city before taking the ferry visit Tap Mum Chau and Lantau Island. After a flight to Taiwan she explores the capital Taipei, ending her trip with a visit to its most remote outpost - Orchid Island.
Tokyo is a fascinating city of extremes, blending the old traditions with visions of the future and an extraordinary pace of life. A shock of skyscrapers and neon, it's a gleaming example of Japan's post World War II success. Traveller Ian Wright begins his stay by experiencing the spiritual side of Tokyo at the peace loving Senso-ji temple. After a gentle introduction he throws himself into the pace of the city and discovers some incredible technology and fashion! He then heads to Mount Fuji for a crowded climb to the summit, before ending his trip experiencing the infamous Tokyo nightlife.
Located on the east coast of the United States, New York is a wondrous metropolis and the self proclaimed capital of the world. Its vast population and multitude of ethnic groups have created a vibrant, energetic mix that is now known as much for its resilience in the face of tragedy as it is for its economic power. Globe Trekker travellers Ian Wright and Megan McCormick tour New York's five boroughs: Staten Island, the Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens and Manhattan, home to the famous skyline and Central Park.
