Host Justine Shapiro's journey begins in Prague, the capital of Czech Republic. Since the collapse of Communism in 1989, it has become a popular tourist destination. Justine visits the castle in Prague and the famous Globe Bookshop Cafe. After a night in a convent, formerly a secret police headquarters, Justine leaves Prague in a Czech car, the Skoda, en route Teplice in Northern Bohemia, where attends an outdoor rave. Justine explores the natural springs of the spa town of Karlovy Vary, en route to Cesky Krumlov in south Bohemia, a picturesque Medieval town. She then canoes on the beautiful Vlatava River to Ceske Budejovice, where she finally boards a train to Poland.

In Czestochowa, Justine visits one of the most important Catholic pilgrimage sites in the world. Justine then finds one of the few remaining State subsidised restaurants in Krakow, the Milk Bar. An hour away by train, Justine visits the site of the concentration camp at Auschwitz, where many of her relatives died. She then heads to the Tatra Mountain Range pm the border between Poland, the Czech Republic and Slovakia, where she stays in a wooden chalet. She samples goats and sheep cheese, and fresh milk from a shepherd, and then celebrates the traditional culture of the local Podhales at a Mountain Folklore Festival. Her journey ends at a traditional wedding procession and party with vodka sampling and dancing.

  • Experience the madness of the rave, a gathering that was not allowed under Communist rule with a law that was enforced by the police
